Conflicting Feelings

I’m not trying to incite jealousy
That’s just not who I am
I don’t know if I can stop name
Dropping, I’ll try
Cause I respect your heart
That I ripped apart
with tears in my eyes

He’s been on my mind a lot these days
Impacted by the ways
That I grew as a person
Through the events that
I can’t even begin to explain

I can see the pain on your face
As I inadvertently mention
His name
He’s your closest friend
And I would be a fool to ask you how you feel
So I won’t bring it up
As I’ll give ourselves some time

I can’t help how I feel
It’s quite the ordeal
He paid attention to the details
Dropping them in conversations
That if I blinked I almost wouldn’t have caught
“Did you just mention that?” I thought.

I’ll let the time pass by
As time heals all
And let the events unravel as they fall.
