Why Am I Like This?

Be still, my beating heart
you’re more confident, I know you are

I’ve never acted like this before
But every time I’m with you,
it comes out of me evermore

My extreme politeness surprises me
It’s a bit jarring, I’m sure
A large contrast between the banter and memes,
I don’t even know if I know myself anymore

This side of me has never appeared
In my past until now
And it’s only during these moments
that I wonder to myself, “How?”

“How am I like this?”
“Why am I like this?”
I wear my feelings on my sleeve
